Pet Passports

A valid pet passport is required for pets to re-enter the UK when travelling from a country on the PETS scheme, without quarantine.

The key requirements enabling your dog or cat to get a pet passport, in the following order are:

  • Microchip
  • Rabies vaccination (administered at either the same time or after the microchip)
  • Rabies serological blood test taken 21-30 days after the rabies vaccination showing immunity against rabies

Six months from the date of the blood test your pet can re-enter the UK without going into quarantine, providing the rabies vaccination has not lapsed since the blood test sample was taken and the country you are importing your pet into the UK from is on the Pet Passport Scheme.
